Mrs LIZ SINFIELD
It is with much sadness that I have to inform members of the passing of Liz Sinfield on Saturday 30th June. Liz was 79 years old. On behalf of the members of Oundle Golf Club I will write to the family to extend our sincere condolences on their sad loss.
Liz joined the Club in 1981 and, together with husband Brian, shared many happy times at the club until 2016 when illness stopped her playing.
She was Ladies Captain in 1992. In 2007, playing with Brian, they were the first winners of the Nancy and David Fairgrieve Trophy and also won the Fenwicke Cups in that year. They won the Glapthorn Salvers in 1989.
Liz was renowned in the Club for her “Killer Cake” and “Healing Hands”. The “Killer Cake” often came out of her golf bag at the 9th tee to share with her partners. And the “Healing Hands”, well, it is claimed that Liz could identify the source of strains and pulls in your body by simply laying her hands on the affected area. An offer of massage would follow which I am reliably informed invariably worked.
“Rest awhile and Smile”
I am sure as members you will have ended your round and walked across to the bench at the 18th to complete your scorecard. Your mood will have been lifted by the wording on the bench, “Rest Awhile and Smile”. You can all thank Liz and Brian for generously donating that bench.
THE FUNERAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT 1.00PM ON MONDAY 23RD JULY AT HARGRAVE CHURCH
